Breana Bagley

is a sophomore communication major with an English minor, at Millikin University. Her career ambition is to attend graduate school to obtain her Juris Doctor degree and practice divorce and mediation law. She is involved in many organizations such as a member of the Millikin University Sapphires Dance Team, the academic chair of Delta Delta Delta Epsilon chapter, a partner with the National Pancreas Foundation, creator of the organization Miles of Smiles–Sending Letters with Love Overseas, and an advocate for Children’s Miracle Network. In her spare time, Bree enjoys continuing her sixteen-year dance career, playing with her red poodle, Penny, and consuming large amounts of cheese. Breana competes within the Miss America Organization and is currently holding the title of Miss Capital City. Tyler Haub

is a Junior English Education Major with a Theatre minor studying at Millikin University. He is from West Branch, Iowa and is a born-and-raised Iowa Hawkeyes fan. On campus, Tyler spends his time rehearsing for Physical Graffiti, hanging with his TKE brothers, and being a First-Year-Experience-Mentor. Alex Johnson

is an English Secondary Education Major at Millikin University with a Spanish minor, from Chicago, IL. As a child Alex never really enjoyed reading because most of the novels he was forced to read in class he found boring; it wasn’t until high school that Alex began to find reading enjoyable. Currently he is working to become fluent in at least two foreign languages by the time he is thirty years old. Alex runs track at Millikin University and is a proud member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and serves as Vice President for his chapter. View his abstract and essay.

Amberlee Seitz

is a senior English Literature major. She began her college career later in life, and earned her Associate in Arts degree at Richland Community College at the age of 39 before transferring to Millikin University. Amberlee is originally from Trenton, New Jersey, but grew up in Germany, and ended up in central Illinois when she was 18 after her father retired from the Air Force. When she is not completing homework, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and four kids. Her future plans consist of obtaining her Master’s degree in English Literature and teaching at a community college, hopefully in a warmer state! View her abstract and essay.

Brittany Walsh

is a senior English Literature major at Millikin University. Originally from Roselle, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Brittany enjoys spending time with her sisters of the fraternity for women Pi Beta Phi and hammocking on Millikin’s campus. Her writing consists of mostly feminist critiques of literature, as she is highly inspired by the work of scholar Lois Tyson. After graduation, Brittany is interested in earning a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs Administration and eventually pursing a career at an institution similar to Millikin. Nicole Wells

is a sophomore English Literature major and Publishing and Editing minor. She is a member of the Blue Satellite printing press staff. This is currently her third semester here at Millikin, and she does not plan on leaving anytime soon. She is also a Disney fanatic and can probably answer any Disney trivia you dare to throw her way. Julia Wen

is an exchange student from Tunghai University in Taiwan. She is a senior English literature major, and she loves learning different languages. She can speak Taiwanese, Mandarin, English, un poco de Español, and can understand 80% of Korean. During the one-year exchange program at Millikin University, Julia wishes to improve her proficiency in written and spoken English. Though Ready Player One is the kind of novel that has elements she doesn’t enjoy—video games, sarcastic teenagers, and an apocalyptic storyline—she manages to explore those fields that she is not familiar with. Bayleigh Williams

was born on July 29, 1997 in Chesterfield, MO. She went to Highcroft Ridge Elementary school, Parkway West Middle school, and graduated from Parkway West High school. She currently attends Millikin University in Decatur, IL with a major in English Writing and minors in Music and Publishing and Editing. In her time in high school, she was on the JV tennis team, Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Honors Choir, Jazz Choir, and the school newspaper. At Millikin University, she is a Long-Vanderburg Scholar, a member of the multicultural sorority, Sigma Lambda Gamma, is a part of the Blue Satellite Press, and writes for The Decaturian student newspaper. Dr. Tony R. Magagna

is an Associate Professor in the English Department at Millikin University, specializing in modern and contemporary American literature. In addition to EN202: Writing About Literature, Dr. Magagna has taught a variety of literature courses, including classes on the modern American novel, contemporary American regionalism, modern American drama, and American popular culture. During the 2012-2013 academic year, he served as the Fulbright Lecturer in American Studies at the Universität Potsdam, Germany. From 2015-2017, Dr. Magagna held the Warren G. Hardy Distinguished Professorship in English at Millikin, initiating new research and curricula focused on the intersections of new media/technologies and literature.
